I’m currently on my way to Orlando Florida where I plan to
spend every spare moment over the next week hanging with Mickey and Friends,
except that one day I’m heading over to the Magical World of Harry Potter.
It’s a rough life, but some body has to live it.
I won’t actually be at the parks all day every day, like I
want to be. I do actually have to work…
being an adult sucks sometimes.
However the great thing about my job is I work remotely so
my office can be anywhere I have a reliable Internet connection. I LOVE this part of my job!!
So while my friend is off living the dream during the day,
I’ll be working from the condo, but as soon as closing time hits I’m headed
straight to the parks to have a magical time.
Since I shared one of my favorite treats to take with me to
the parks yesterday, I thought I’d share some favorite footwear for the parks.
I’ve always had problems with my feet; I often have a lot of
pain in my heels if I’ve done a lot of walking or standing. Which proved very difficult when I worked in
customer service and had to be on my feet all the time, or when I lived in
Argentina and was walking every where I went.
I’m a pretty stubborn person so it took me a while to go see
a doctor about this, but I was finally convinced by a friend to go see one
after posting about my feet hurting one day.
As a side note I know an AMAZING podiatrist here in Oldham
County KY if anyone needs a good foot doctor!! He’s the one to thank for this
particular review.
Anyways after going to see Dr. Pedersen and telling him
about the pains in my feet he suggested that I needed to start wearing shoes
with good arch support. This is not an
earthshattering suggestion, one that I basically already knew, but just never
followed through on.
Aren’t all good supportive shoes granny shoes? I don’t want to wear ugly granny shoes... I’m
still young!
Luckily Dr. Pedersen cured me of my supportive shoes
ignorance and introduced me to Vionic Shoes.
I immediately went home and looked them up, they have a
website here , or they are even sold on Zappos and I believe you can even find
them in some department stores.
I was overwhelmed by the different options and how cute they
were. The have really cute sandals,
flats, dress shoes, tennis shoes, boots, heels, even slippers!! They also have narrow, regular, and wide
widths! Really this shoe is for everyone… they even have shoes for men!!!
I ended up ordering 3 different pairs, because well I just
couldn’t decide!!
I was planning a BIG trip to Disney back in February
and wanted to have some good shoes to wear for that because I knew I’d be
running around every where. I got these
sandals just in time for my trip.
I do have to say that even though they come in wide widths
they aren’t all the same. I ordered all
three of my sandals in wide width, and only 2 of them fit. The flip-flop style I got was way too tight
on my feet so I ended up not taking those.
Luckily I have lost a bit a weight since then and they fit perfect now!!
My main purpose for getting these shoes was my trip to
Disney, and unfortunately they weren’t much help to me there. I hadn’t had them for long enough before my
trip to truly break them in. And why I
thought it wouldn’t be a problem to break them in while at an amusement park, I
have no idea.
The first day we were at the parks it rained (in Orlando
Florida, shocking I know ha-ha). It
wasn’t a bad rain, it only rained for a little bit, but it was enough to get my
feet wet.
Towards the end of the day I could feel a blister coming on
but I didn’t think it would be that bad.
I’ll spare you the details, but by the next day the blister
was so bad I could barely walk. I
stopped wearing the sandals and luckily had a comfortable pair of sneakers I
used, but seriously even with those my blister was so bad it put a dark cloud
over the whole trip.
However, as long as you aren’t an idiot like me; these are
truly great shoes. Just make sure you
give yourself time to break them in before trying to walk 20,000 steps a day in
possible rain showers.
Once I got home from my trip in February and my blister went
away I started wearing the sandals more and more often and now it’s safe to say
if you see me wearing sandals they are probably vionics.
So far I have only purchased the 3 pairs of sandals, but I
currently have my eye on a couple of their ankle boots.
This brand is a little pricey, but I believe they are worth
the money because you are paying for good support and shoes that will last a long
time.
Like I said I’m headed to Disney right now and you better
believe I’ll be wearing my vionics while hitting the parks!
